The reading of indexer: observation study.
Abstract
The process of analysis begins with the reading of the text on which the quality of the analysis, synthesis and representation depends. Documentary reading is constrained by specific conditions such as: time limits, purpose, development of products, limited set of types of texts and subject areas. Na investigation of the reading strategies under special circunstances was carried out in a case study within the context of the indexing service of a branch of the Oral Health Sciences Information Network of Brazil. The indexers' reading was used to observe the data collecting technique known as Verbal protocol or think aloud. Results indicate that the indexers use metacognitive reading strategies, such as deliberate attention to text structure and association with the usual documentary language of the system.Downloads
