Abstract

The outstanding discourses on information society, since it startet to be discussed, are retrieved over a historical perspective. The analysis of these discourses, with the help of the political philosophy, reveals that a certain amount of consensus has been built along time on what that society may be. Information and knowledge, which at first sight seemed to be the focal point or the essence of that society, appear transfigured under the appearance of information technologies’ use. Information and knowledge are drawn off their human content, reduced to utilitarian and operational aspects. So, that society is concerned with knowledge and information liable to being digitilized
