The need for heterogeneous data sources integration in knowledge management projects
Abstract
Knowledge management projects, which have been successfully implemented in organizations, try not only to manage technological tools, but also to act in the knowledge dimension. Information technology is important to the dissemination of which has the objective of making organizational knowledge available. We present the idea that one important stage of this project deals with problems related to the integration of the several heterogeneous data sources found in electronic formats in any company, so as to make them available, clearer and reusable to users. Corporate intranets are taken as examples of representative environments of heterogeneous data sources and several inherent problems related to the organizational processes are also presented. We also present possible approaches to the interoperability between distinct data sources.Downloads
