Abstract

The need to make information available to companies has led to reflections about the production, demand, dissemination and use of information. The purpose of this exploratory study, is to examine the situation of tourism information in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. This paper analyses a sample of 50 companies in the cities of Florianópolis and São Jose. The data were obtained through questionnaires and interviews. Results are presented for three indicators: business management information, dissemination of promotional material at the origin, and tourist orientation at destination. The study emphasizes the need for the creation of a Center of Tourism.
