The librarian's contribution to Environmental Education

Abstract

I discussed the contribution of the librarian to the Environmental Education, showing his importance as an educator, bringing not only theoretical knowledge but also action for people in order to increase their ecologically good habits. As the librarian is considered one of the professionals who disseminates information, it is believed that he cannot stay out of these discussions. Librarians as citizens and professionals must also act in this area, working in the best possible way to disseminate environmental information, creating strategies, networks, projects and other actions to keep people aware of it and reduce the impact of humans on the environment. This research also shows that librarianship has and must relate to environmental education, so this work helps to generate critical thoughts, to achieve environmentally good behavior, and contributes to a sustainable development in the region.
