Abstract

The paper analyzes the importance of information and knowledge for productive activities. The notion of organizational knowledge is emphasized in the context of the physical, cognitive and social paradigms of information science. Various concepts and processes of organizational learning are discussed.Organizational structure and culture are discussed in terms of factors that determine the mechanisms throughwhich organizations effect learning. The article presents a series of questions which serve as guidelines for researching the influences of organizational culture onthe processes of information and knowledge management in Brazilian companies.
