Abstract

Individuals, technology and reception: a contribution to the study of the use of new technologies of information and communication The objective of this article is, firstly, do reflect on technology as instrumental reason. The article also focuses on the place of individuals in such reflection. By introducing the issue of individuals, the reflection on technology raises another type of reason, namely communicative reason, whose locus is the realm of communication, on which reception studies and the concept of public sphereare based. Such reflection aims at contributing to the study of use and users in the field of information science, as far as the new technologies of information and communication (TCIs), namely the internet, are concerned.
