Methodology for construction of conceptual thesaurus : categorization as a theoretical principle
Abstract
Historically, thesaurus documentation consisted of a structured list of terms constituted almost of one-worded terms. Later, it evolved to include some compound words but no guidance was offered as to when to use them or not. A thesaurus is viewed as a classifying system and the Fundamental Categories provide the basis for a correct positioning of the concepts in their classes and organization of the domain. Definition of each concept is the element that will objectively prove the different relationships with other concepts, be it hierarchical, partitive or associative.Downloads
