Continuing education and the work market: a study about librarians in the State of Rio Grande do Norte

Abstract

This study aims at describing the importance of and need for continuing education of professional librarians that work in Rio Grande do Norte State, Brazil. This is an essential analysis due to the great number of changes related to technological advances. The paper provides data related to the position that these professionals occupy in the current work market. Results show that librarians recognize the importance of continuing education as a valuable tool for better qualification and acquisition of skills, attitudes and behavior for an efficient professional practice.
