Abstract

This article is part of the doctoral thesis of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Leisure Studies, Federal University of Minas Gerais. It consists of a bibliographical review whose objective was to identify which understanding of regional development is coherent with the understanding of leisure and tourism as rights. The results of this research highlighted the regional development as the one that concerns the place and the people, based on tripod territory, regional articulation and political transformation. Thus, the centrality of the regional development of leisure and tourism is closely related to collective social praxis, and social and human development, without disregarding the economic.

    Doutoranda no programa de Estudos Interdisciplinares do Lazer; Professora do Curso de Turismo da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, na área de gestão mercadológica do turismo. Membro dos Grupos de Pesquisa: OTIUM - Lazer, Brasil & América Latina; LUCE - Ludicidade Cultura e Educação; TECT- Turismo, Economia, Cultura e Território. Foi membro da equipe multidisciplinar de desenvolvimento tecnológico e inovação sobre mega eventos esportivos, solicitada pelo CNPQ à UFMG - Pró-reitoria de Pesquisa, coordenando o subprojeto Turismo. Interesse em pesquisas e extensão sobre desenvolvimento regional do turismo, Lazer e Sociedade, sustentabilidade e marketing turístico
