Abstract

This work focuses on the public cultural policy called Points of Culture/Cultura Viva (2004-2016) in order to understand how it operates in urban geographical territories called ‘community’ in the city of Belo Horizonte/MG. As this policy was designed to streamline, promote and stimulate community-based culture in all regions of Brazil, this article seeks to comprehend the meaning of this territoriality named as 'community' both in theory and in practice taking as a case study two cultural associations of Belo Horizonte.
