POSSIBLE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR THE LEISURE EDUCATION PERCEPTION SCALE (EsPEL-31)
Abstract
Introduction: The Leisure Education Perception Scale (EsPEL-31) consists of a scale to identify the perception of individuals about their own leisure education. To our knowledge, however, no investigations have attempted to introduce the EsPEL-31 cut-off points. Objective: To present the possible cutoff points that best identify the perception on leisure education. Methods: The sample was composed of 1060 adults (20-59 years). The Percentile Rank and the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve were used to define the possible cutoff points. Results: According to the Percentile Rank, seven possible cut-off points were observed, but two were highlighted (P25 and P75 - as they are more central and applicable) for EsPEL-31, separated by gender. As for the ROC curve, the cutoff point 66 for women (with a sensitivity of 0.850 and specificity of 0.754) and 69 for men (with sensitivity of 0.780 and specificity of 0.784) were chosen. Conclusion: New cut-off possibilities for EsPEL-31 were presented. Thus, if you follow the suggestions, EsPEL-31 proved to be a satisfactory scale to identify the perception of leisure education in Brazilian adults.
