Abstract

This paper aims to examine the role and possibilities of tourism and leisure in education, rehabilitation and promotion of cultural heritage in rural São Paulo historic farms, as one of the modalities of sociocultural animation. This process was conducted based on the methodology of oral history where the heritage is explored as an educational tourist area within the field of non-formal education, adult and facing the elderly public. This study contributes to a reflection in the field of non-formal education not as an alternative to schooling, but as an integral part of the discussion of free time and leisure as a field of non-formal education that continues to exist throughout the life of the individual.
