Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has abruptly changed the daily lives of the world's population, including the way we experience leisure. Part of a broader study, this qualitative research aimed to analyze how social barriers manifested themselves in the leisure of black students at the Faculty of Physical Education of the State University of Campinas before and during the quarantine. We consider leisure a social right and a phenomenon that transforms culture. Then, a bibliographic and field research was carried out through semi-structured interviews. Before the pandemic, lack of time, the economic factor, symbolic barriers and racism were the most evident difficulties. The most cited social barrier in the quarantine was the lack of time and the difficulty of accessing spaces that limited leisure experiences, mainly related to physical-sports and tourist interests. Social and artistic experiences began to be carried out online.
