The article makes a brief foray into the leisures of ancient Rome, from the monarchical period, using its literary mentions and modern historical investigations. It tries to show that the Roman civilization coexisted early with the activities of the free time and created mass leisure among the free population, already in the republican period, not only in the capital of the empire, but in all the provinces of its vast territorial domain.Downloads
