Abstract

According to some researches, self-assessment has played a very important role as a support to teaching/learning process in classroom environment as a diagnostic means to help teachers and students have a better view of their potentialities. Thus, this article aims at showing different alternatives of self-assessment, their objectives, as well as their restrictions, but mainly the successful studies in which this way of alternative assessment was used. This research was based on theories of Educational and Applied Linguistics areas.
