Abstract

This study explores the idea of language as a process that is established and is developed from moment to moment between the interactants in a situated interaction. Assuming a critical perspective over the hegemonic linguistic theories that prioritize language as a product, this investigation aims to approximate the linguistic analysis to the embodiment studies, or, to the understanding that language and cognition cannot be considered apart from the body. For that, an excerpt was analysed from a recorded live interview between the journalist Leda Nagle and the singer Tim Maia, taken from the TV program Sem Censura, and available online. The analysis was developed by the use of the software ELAN (Wittenburg et al., 2006) and the result of this exploration illustrates how the interactional process is the fundamental way through which the human language is organised.
