This study aims to analyze the ethical perspective used by the nursing staff in their daily practice. It is a qualitative research that was conducted at the University Hospital of Rio de Janeiro. We interviewed eight members of a Nursing team that worked in Neonatal Units. All the ethical requirements were fulfilled and the study was authorized by the Research Ethics Committee, according to process No 1239 - CEP / HUPE - CAAE: 0107.0.228.000-05. Results showed the following analytical categories: beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy and justice. The nursing professional has incorporated the ethical issues to its practice. Nevertheless, we still notice the fragility of the theoretical and conceptual basement as a way of systematizing the attention provided to newborns who feel pain.Downloads
