Abstract

Care to hospitalized children has undergone significant changes and, today, the strategy is to assist the child and family members as partners in the care. In this study we intend to report the experience of health workers with the family member of children hospitalized in the pediatric unit. Qualitative methodology has been used, case studies discussing the strong and weak points in caring for the child's family member. Analyzing the interviews, it was clear that health workers have ideas, however find it very difficult to work with the triad team-child-family member when the later is involved in planning care.
