This work has as objectives: to analyze the social representation of the nursing consultation built by public health nurses. The methodological reference was the Theory of Social Representations. Thirty nurses from the public health care system were chosen as subjects, and in depth interviews were held. The data was analyzed by ALCESTE software. The results showed five different meanings to consultations: the new relationships nurse-team, nurse-clientele, exclusive activity, consultation itself and health education as the basis of consultation. It was found that nursing consultation is an important piece of technology in professional development and helps to face up the current challenges in the set of professional work.Downloads
