This study was to identify the importance of group activities in the rehabilitation of mastectomized women. We interviewed 10 women of the GEPAM group (Group supportive of mastectomized women) from December of 2001 to February of 2002. The data were according to content analysis and grouped into categories. The significance of the self-help group was divided in the themes: emotional support; educational space and interactive space. These help to understand that the mastectomized women consider the group a space of real meaning in their lives.Downloads
