Nursing care in newborn skin dehiscence of myelomeningocele closure wound

The aim of this study was to describe the treatment and evolution of a newborn's myelomeningocele closure wound. The neonate was admitted on the 18th postoperative day, when poor perfusion, dermis' total compromising, necrosis, unstuck edges, muscle exposure and exudation at the suture line were observed. Calcium alginate, essential fatty acids and papain were used. Total scarring was obtained on the 46th day of treatment.Downloads
