This work intends to discuss Interpretative Interactionism as a methodological framework used in qualitative research. It discusses the application of this method in research which seeks to understand the experience of nurses caring for children and families who go through the death process in a pediatric ICU, through biographical narratives. We consider this to be a situation which triggers signifying/re-signifying of care throughout these nurses' professional life, enabling them to identify factors that interfere in getting close to or distancing the child and family at this specific moment.Downloads
