The Delphi technique may help researchers build and validate information through experts' consensus. This technique can be used in many subject areas, including Nursing. Objective: To identify and categorize nursing articles published in Brazilian Scientific Nursing Journals using the Delphi technique. Methodology: Researchers reviewed the current literature using the following databases: LILACS, MEDLINE and DEDALUS. Results: Twelve articles using the Delphi technique published between 1996 and 2008 were found. Four of the journals in which the articles were published were associated to public universities. Nineteen out of twenty-two authors were linked to post-graduate programs at public institutions. Five articles were about nursing administration, three about adult nursing care and three about education. The remaining article covered survey methodology. Two disadvantages of the Delphi technique were: high attrition rates and lengthy delays in questionnaire return time. The advantages included easier access to worldwide experts. The study's goals were achieved. Conclusion: the Delphi technique may contribute to nursing progress including all specialties.Downloads
