This article shows part of the results of a qualitative study carried out to understand the evaluation of prenatal care from the point of view of pregnant women in a public basic healthcare unit. It was based on the principle that the pregnant woman who looks for assistance has some knowledge and experiences, hopes to be respected in her uniqueness and wishes to contribute to build quality in the care provided in public health services. In order to reach the objectives, a semi-structured interview was used. An analysis of the statements by the group studied showed that pregnant women wish to be cared for considering their organic problems and also those arising from real life situations, such as those relating to their condition as women.Downloads
