Abstract

This paper has the objective of contributing to the discussion on child abuse. The authors include historical and conceptual aspects of this phenomena. They conclude reminding health care workers that notification of abuse against children and adolescents is mandatory and making these workers aware of the problem may be the first step to ensure the enforcement of this law.
