This research aimed to understand the nurse role on the hospital costs management. It was done a qualitative research with six manager nurses from public, private and philanthropical hospitals of Montes Claros-MG. The results showed that the nurses have a mix of feelings when they have to choose between the costs management or the clients. Considering the costs management, although they feel valued by the purchasing comissions, data showed that in the private institutions they have a friendly relationship with the maintenance services, but they have a conflicting relationship with this área in the public and phylanthropical institutions. The results lead to affirm that the interviewed nurses have the decisive role in the acquisition and avaluation of the acquired materials for his/her institution, not importing the type of entity they work. It was concluded that the costs management practice by the nurse depend on the type of kind of administration used by the public, private or phylanthropical institutions, and this conclusion shows the need of a deeper study about this theme aiming to achieve the institutional requirements.Downloads
