Abstract

The promotion of the population's health and living conditions is a commitment made by professionals that work with Family Health Care. It is fundamental to build up an interconnected work with the families since healthcare encompasses their environment and their many relationship areas. Therefore, this paper aims at comprehending how the work implemented by family health teams is articulated in local communities. This quantitative study derived from a database whose facts were collected by LAMSA's professionals in semi-structured interviews with 74 workers who take part in 20 family health teams in a city South of Brazil. We analyzed three sub themes: the work organization in the community, the activities engaged by the health team to structure the work, the purpose of the cooperative work between members of the staff and the community. Articulation happens when people are visited at home or when they go directly to the health care unity and in mutual spaces such as radio stations, churches and others. The activities employed are doctors'appointments, clinical procedures, as well as visits, meetings, and leisure activities. The objective of such joint actions is to promote health and to improve the quality of life of families under the staff responsibility by focusing on the community health needs
