Abstract

Breastfeeding is subject to influences which can bring about early weaning, and is greatly affected by the influence of grandmothers. This work, which is a bibliographical survey and a comparative analysis of healthcare, has the objective of finding studies that examine the influence of grandmothers in early weaning and compare them with the practice of the researchers. The results showed an agreement between the findings in the literature and the experience with researchers. To promote, protect and support breastfeeding with the mothers and grandmothers can contribute to the success of breastfeeding. We suggest strategies that cover generations, such as sharing knowledge to reinforce the importance of breastfeeding.
