Abstract

The aim of this article is to refute the idea that the Situationist International was an organization insensitive to the colonial and anti-colonial question. To this end, it presents the Situationist notions of colonization and decolonization of everyday life in dialogue with the critical theory of the spectacle; it explores aspects of its opposition to the nationalist and statist principles that guided the liberation movements of his time, based on a defense of proletarian internationalism and its project of generalized self-management; and finally, it highlights the fundamental contribution of its non-European members to the development of the organization, as well as their positions on the liberation struggles in Algeria, Congo and Palestine.
