Author Guidelines

1. General guidelines

  • Originality and Uniqueness: (Des)troços only evaluates and accepts original and unpublished contributions that align with the editorial line of the magazine.
  • Submission Types: Submissions can be made at any time through the journal's OJS platform. Authors should indicate whether their submissions are part of a thematic dossier or not, and specify the type of work, which can be a scientific article, essay, interview, review, translation, or artistic production.
  • Author's Qualifications: Authors must hold a PhD or master's degree. Contributions from master's students, graduates, or authors without a degree in co-authorship with a PhD author will be accepted. In exceptional cases, the title requirements may be waived by editorial decision. This includes anonymous works or works signed by collectives, research groups, social movements, etc. Title requirements do not apply to artistic productions.
  • Authorship and Collaboration Criteria: The journal adheres to the authorship and collaboration criteria established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), unless the intention is collective responsibility or anonymity. Authorship should be attributed to those who substantially contributed to the conception or design of the work; or to the collection, analysis, or interpretation of data; and participated in writing the paper or critically reviewing its intellectual content. Authors should have approved the final version to be published and agreed to take responsibility for all aspects of the work, ensuring the proper investigation and resolution of any issues regarding accuracy or completeness. In addition, the lead author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors participate in the submission process. Any individual who has made contributions beyond those mentioned above should be identified as a contributor.
  • Length (including references): Articles should be between 15 and 30 pages; essays between 10 and 20 pages; reviews between 3 and 10 pages. Other types of productions have no specific length requirements.
  • Accepted Languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, or Italian.
  • Formatting Standards: Contributions must adhere to the formatting rules and guidelines provided for authors.
