Aesthetics of ferocity

Abstract

In this essay I seek to develop the notion of the aesthetics of ferocity. To do so, I first seek to critically relate to some elements of the Frankfurt School and Queer Studies. Regarding the first school of thought, I think of the theorist Herbert Marcuse. With Marcuse it is possible to understand - already in the 1960s - a valorization of minority knowledge, of the production of new forms of subjectivity, of a positivization of so-called perverse sexualities and, also, the valorization of utopias that can be called subaltern. Regarding the second school of thought - Queer Studies - it is possible to find many similarities with Marcuse's thought, but I think that queer evokes an experience of destructuring of normative processes, or even, of certain ontologies. In this sense, what I direct to an aesthetics of ferocity would be the understanding of queer as an experience of implosion of normative processes, but also of an explosion of the Symbolic via death drive.
