Resumen

Este trabajo analiza dos conceptos contrapuestos de biopolítica estadounidenses contemporáneos, de finales del siglo XIX. El primero, de Edward Payson Evans, incluido en trabajos sobre ecología y derechos animales como pionero del biocentrismo y contra el antropocentrismo. El segundo, el de Voltairine de Cleyre, excluido por la misma literatura. Para ello, interpreta los textos de ambos sobre animales, naturaleza y cultura, derecho y justicia, empleando un enfoque transdisciplinar y una perspectiva ecofeminista crítica decolonial. Metodológicamente, usa fuentes, bibliografía y herramientas de la filosofía, de la historia política, intelectual, de la ciencia, del derecho, de la biología y la etnobiología. Introduce el problema de la falta de contexto de la recepción actual de Evans, para pasar a abordar, en el segundo y tercer apartados, su concepción de la política animal, y de la justicia y el derecho, respectivamente. En los apartados cuarto y quinto estudia los trabajos de Voltairine de Cleyre sobre las mismas cuestiones. Los resultados son que la biopolítica de Evans era una necropolítica, frente a De Cleyre, cuya biopolítica era ecofeminista no esencialista. Concluye argumentando que es preciso incluir su perspectiva, como las de otras voces silenciadas, en historias ecológicas para sostener la vida en este planeta compartido.
