RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA DE UM EVENTO COMO INSTRUMENTO DE EDUCAÇÃO À DISTÂNCIA

Abstract

The Academic League of Oral and Aesthetic Rehabilitation (LAROE) has a complementary role to academic training and is based on the university tripod teaching, research and extension. Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a need to reinvent the teaching/learning process. In this scenario, digital platforms have become the main means of education. This experience report aims to describe the modality of an event held entirely online as a tool for education in Dentistry, by members of LAROE. The Symposium had four virtual classes made available on YouTube®, taught by specialist professors in the themes, with subjects often not addressed in the menus of undergraduate courses. The lectures had good acceptance with participants from different locations due to the greater ease, comfort, optimization of time and without the need to travel to exchange scientific knowledge. Remote work and the holding of the online event as a distance education instrument during the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a very useful complementary teaching tool and accepted by the academic community. It proved to be a teaching modality to be applied even after periods of social isolation, enabling scope and diversity of the public.
