Abstract

This article aims to introduce the information society in the context of Social Engineering and Big Data, with the intention of exploring the current information security agenda, addressing a sociological, technological and information science context. The theoretical exposition highlights the growing urgency for access to information in the digital age. It indicates the need to implement interventions to protect and preserve users from manipulation through data collection inside and outside networks. It highlights the relevance of information professionals and their skills in order to better manage knowledge in the field of information security.
