Privacy Statement and Personal Data Protection

The journal Bibliotecas Universitárias: pesquisas, experiências e perspectivas, managed through the Open Journal Systems (OJS), commits to the protection of its users' personal data, in compliance with Law No. 13,709/2018 – Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

1. Personal Data Collection

For platform registration, the following personal data are collected:

  • ORCID (mandatory, according to journal policy);
  • First name and last name;
  • Institutional affiliation;
  • Country;
  • Email address;
  • Username;
  • Password.

This data is necessary to ensure the proper identification of authors, reviewers, editors, and other participants in the editorial process.

2. Purpose of Collection

The personal data provided to the journal are used exclusively for the provision of services related to scientific publication, such as: management of the editorial workflow (including submissions, evaluations, and publications), communication with authors, editors, and peer reviewers, dissemination of published articles, provision of technical support when necessary, and ensuring proper authorship attribution.

The journal does not use the data for commercial purposes, nor does it share them with third parties without the consent of the data subject, except in cases provided by law.

3. Data Storage and Security

Personal information provided by users is stored on the OJS platform, used by the journal for editorial management. This system adopts technical and organizational measures aimed at information security, with the objective of protecting data against unauthorized access, accidental loss, undue alteration, or any form of misuse.

4. Data Sharing

The data provided by users may be shared with indexers and academic platforms, when necessary for the dissemination of scientific output (e.g., ORCID, DOI), always in compliance with the principles of purpose and minimization of data processing.

5. Data Subject Rights

In compliance with the LGPD, the data subject has the following rights:

  • Confirm the existence of data processing;
  • Access their personal data;
  • Correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data;
  • Request the anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary or excessive data;
  • Revoke consent, when applicable.

6. Definition of Users

The journal operates through the OJS system, which allows the registration and participation of different user profiles, as described below:

  • Authors: Responsible for submitting scientific works, monitoring the editorial process, and responding to requested revisions;
  • Editors: Responsible for coordinating the editorial workflow, including the evaluation, editing, and publication of manuscripts, ensuring the scientific quality of the journal;
  • Reviewers/Peer Reviewers: Specialists invited to review submitted articles, issuing technical or scientific opinions that support editorial decisions;
  • Readers: Users who access and consult published content, whether or not they are registered on the platform;
  • Journal Managers: System administrators, responsible for platform configurations, user management, and supervision of the entire editorial process.
