Abstract

This article, deals with the archaeological and phenomenological study of the graphic representations, graphics, of two themes: religious appeal and sexuality present in the cells of the Lieutenant Zeca Rúben Penitentiary (1967-2007) in São Raimundo Nonato, Piauí. In this prison environment, the detainees left marks of the transformation of their prison space, where the creation of drawings, inscriptions and phrases written in the cells are part of an integral practice of the experience and experience of their creators in this prison. I use concepts of Maurice Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology applied to Archeology for the understanding of such themes in relation to the experience of the body (subject / prisoner) and the body (prison space) of the Penitentiary, thus contributing to the construction and / or reconstruction of the past, even the most recent.
