The current study focused on calculating slope information for each segment of Belo Horizonte's road network. Despite the apparent simplicity facilitated by precise geographic data from the city's cartographic database and official road network, the process and outcomes represented an innovative approach in public administration, particularly in transportation planning and management. The aim was to enrich Belo Horizonte's road database with details on minimum, average, and maximum slopes per segment, along with other factors like pavement type, width, and clearance, crucial for transportation and urban logistics planning. All segments of the municipal road network, totaling over 4000 km, underwent processing. The slope data underwent cartographic validation, confirming its suitability for the research. This project's uniqueness and results position the Transport Authority of Belo Horizonte (BHTRANS) at the forefront of geoprocessing application in urban transportation planning and management. The widespread attention and public interest in the research findings underscore the significance of road slope information in shaping policies related to mobility, accessibility, safety, and efficiency in urban transportation.
