The implementation of Agroforestry Systems (AFS) constitutes a promising alternative for the recovery of degraded areas, especially in mountainous areas, where the risk of erosion, irregular sunlight, and surface runoff hinder their productive use. This work analyzed practices and strategies implemented in AFS in mountainous areas of Peru, aiming to identify technical and environmental elements that characterize the arrangement of these AFS, promoting the use of these agricultural areas for possible application in the Brazilian scenario. The methodology involved a literature review, systematization of case studies, and analysis of the ecological conditions of mountainous regions of Peru. The results indicate that the use of native species, strip cropping, terracing, and perennial consortia increase soil stability and climate resilience, coupled with strong community participation. It is concluded that the experiences analyzed offer relevant contributions, mainly to the Brazilian context, showing that AFS adapted to the relief and altitude can reconcile conservation, productivity, and food security.
