Abstract

The livestock activity is of paramount importance for the Brazilian GDP. It is estimated that around 30% of GDP comes from livestock, whether through the sale of products or through the generation of direct and indirect jobs. It was spread on a large scale, mainly in Brazil-colony and until today it is carried out throughout the entire Brazilian territory. This work brings a general outline of livestock in Brazil and the territorialization processes that were favored due to the advance of livestock in the interior of the country from the times of colonization to the present day. It is also discussed the advances of agribusiness and how these directly interfered in the deterritorialization of livestock, giving rise to large plantations, expelling rural people from their place of origin, making them have to reinvent themselves, seeking alternatives to adapt to new paradigms . The work highlights the case of the state of Minas Gerais, as this being, among the states that develop agriculture, deserves to be highlighted in the Brazilian scenario.
