In Defense of a Global Ethics and Dialectics

The literary essay has not yet received as much attention in academic research, especially on regards to translation studies, as other types of texts. By considering such gap, this work aims to contribute by analyzing the translation process of a political-linguistic-literary essay, which was the subject of a doctoral research. Thus, this text presents the essay Globalectics (2012), by Kenyan writer Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, and a few and brief considerations on the process of translating it, as well as theoretical contributions from Scholes et al. (1991), Starobinski (2011) and Adorno (1991), on the essay genre, and from Venuti (2002), Brugioni (2010), Bassnett and Trivedi (2002), among others, on translation. The ultimate purpose of the essay is the defense of the orature.
