This research sought to investigate characteristics of Burnout Syndrome, life satisfaction, self-esteem and optimism in university professors during remote teaching established by the contingency of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Participants were 98 teachers aged between 31 and 64 years (M=43.35; SD=7.98; 60.20% women) who answered the sociodemographic questionnaire and use of technologies, Burnout Characterization Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale and Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale. The results indicated the prevalence of professors in courses related to the health area, and who carried out activities beyond classes, using different digital platforms. An increase in subjects taught between academic periods, accompanied by the perception of weekly working hours, was observed. Regarding the instruments, self-esteem rates were below average, optimism within the average value, and life satisfaction above average. As for burnout, low levels were observed, with emphasis on the lack of personal fulfillment at work and emotional exhaustion. As for the correlation analyses, women had higher averages related to mental health and men had a higher average of burnout, with a significant relationship between age and optimism, although no significant differences were found in mental health indices as the period progressed. remote. Limitations regarding the number of participants and the burnout instrument used suggest that new studies be conducted in order to obtain a more assertive understanding of the mental health of university professors.
