This paper intends to debate inter-ethnic relations in public schools of Belo Horizonte, based on the analysis of some interviews that are part of a major research on the matter. It focus the ambiguous nature of Brazilian ethnic relationships, traditionally dominated by a whitening ideology and myth of ethnic democracy.
