UMA FERRAMENTA PARA CONSERVAÇÃO DE EDIFÍCIOS HISTÓRICOS

Abstract

This article presents the result of the research Preventive Conservation Plan of Rui Barbosa House Museum: documentation for preservation which has been developed at the Architectural Preservation Department of House of Rui of Barbosa Foundation, from 2015 to 2019. The research´s main goal was the development of continuous process of documentation of the ensemble of the historic building and the collection housed at the Rui Barbosa Historic House Museum (RBHM), in the framework of preservation actions that has been developed since the late 1990´s, based on prevention, structured in the form of a RBHM 's Preventive Conservation Plan, seeking to integrate the historic building and the collections it keeps.

The Technical Instructions are a tool of documentation process, organizing the information related to the monument's preservation actions, implemented within the RBHM's Preventive Conservation Plan. Technical Instruction is the term given to documents that concentrate historical and technical information about the elements and construction systems that aim to contribute to the management of the monuments, providing subsidies for decision-making to the responsible agents. The understanding of the materials, elements and construction techniques, associated with the study of its pathologies, enables the development of strategies besides curative measures, those that acting before the damage occurs.
