Abstract

This research addresses the discussion on sustainability in post-disaster architecture projects for the permanent resettlement of victims of environmental catastrophes, using as a case study the Mariana tragedy in Minas Gerais, where the greatest socio-environmental disaster in Brazilian history occurred and the largest in the world. world involving tailings dams. The case under study occurred on November 5, 2015 when the Fundão dam broke, used as a deposit of mining waste by the company Samarco. In the current context of scarcity of environmental resources, the study covers alternatives that seek to reduce the ecological footprint by giving priority to biological design with the application of versatile, organic and readaptable structures, combining the balance of nature's designs with efficiency and adaptability. The results present an architectural model adapted to the social, economic and environmental criteria, combining technology with the constructive and socio-cultural characteristics of the affected population, based on sustainability.
