Compartimentação regional do relevo e cobertura pedológica do centro-norte de Minas Gerais

Abstract

The analysis and interpretation of the landscape conducted by geomorphologists and pedologists do not always result in na integrated approach based on the expertise of both specialties. Taking this statement into account and reinforcing the need for the integration between these two specialties, the seventh edition of the Meeting of Classification and Correlation of Soils held in 2005 in Minas Gerais decided to add the geomorphological component to their analysis of soil profiles. Therefore this paper aims at presenting the analysis and considerations carried out by a group of experts – pedologists and geomorphologists – regarding the relation between the regional compartmentalization of the relief in the north-center of Minas Gerais and its pedological coverage at the most important Brazilian event of academic and scientific geomorphology.
