ALTRUÍSMO, SIMPATIA E MODELOS EVOLUCIONÁRIOS NA TEORIA ÉTICA DE HUME

Neste artigo, pretendo oferecer uma interpretação evolucionária do conceito de simpatia na teoria ética de Hume com base nos preceitos gerais da teoria ética evolucionária contemporânea. Ao apresentar os arcabouços conceituais que compõem estas teorias, meu argumento envolve especificar que, para ambas, o mecanismo psicológico da simpatia parece figurar como um traço essencial do comportamento moral e altruísta na espécie humana. No contexto da biologia evolucionária, dois modelos evolucionários foram desenvolvidos para explicar a lógica do comportamento altruísta humano: i) seleção de parentesco e ii) seleção multinível. Argumento, com base em evidência textual na obra de Hume, que o mecanismo psicológico da simpatia parece ser mais adequadamente explicado pelo modelo de seleção multinível. Concluo, então, destacando algumas contribuições importantes que esta interpretação evolucionária pode oferecer para a plausibilidade geral da teoria ética de Hume.
