Abstract

Adorno's late aesthetic writings focused on the developments of the post-war artistic avant-garde, mainly in the fields of literature and music. Within the context of these discussions, a concept gains prominence in his work, assuming fundamental importance in his Aesthetic Theory: the notion of the artistic "experiment". In this article, we aim to trace the development of this concept, discussing the changes it underwent throughout the philosopher's work. To do so, we will show how this notion gradually gains importance in his later aesthetic writings as it becomes intertwined with the complex experiences of post-war avant-gardes and linked to the idea of the "processual character of the artwork".
