Abstract

In this work, self-archiving practices in Information Science and the contributions of the E-prints in Library and Information Science repository to open scientific communication in the area are discussed. The study is quantitative-descriptive, exploratory, and uses bibliometrics as a methodological support for measuring scientific indicators. The instruments for data collection and analysis were built using the Python programming language. About 34 thousand documents were filed in the repository between 2002 and 2019. The most frequent types of documents are journal articles (47%), conference articles (18%), presentation (8%), book chapters (6%) . The most discussed subjects are "Use of information and sociology of information", "Information technology and library technology" and "Treatment of information for information services". The results are partial and represent an overview of the documents deposited in the repository.
