Résumé

Neste artigo, apresento um breve panorama historiográfico sobre os estudos humano-animais na antiguidade, apontando aspectos de proximidade e especificidade em relação aos estudos humano-animais no sentido mais amplo. Para tanto, eu explico o que são os estudos humano-animais e qual sua importância para, em seguida, caracterizar o desenvolvimento dessa discussão no âmbito dos estudos clássicos. Por fim, ressalto as mútuas contribuições que a intersecção entre esses dois campos pode promover. Com isso, espero oferecer não só uma reflexão em torno das possibilidades e limites teóricos e metodológicos sobre o tema dos animais na antiguidade, mas também chamar a atenção para o importante papel que os estudos clássicos podem vir a exercer na discussão sobre a questão animal de forma geral no Brasil.
